A bunch of men belonging to the DMK entered an Amma Unavagam (Amma canteen) in Mogappair, Chennai on Tuesday, and ransacked the premises, and reportedly demanded that the workers take away the photograph of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa from the canteen’s title board.
Soon after a video of the incident went viral, DMK Saidapet MLA-elect Ma Subramanian tweeted that DMK president M. Okay. Stalin had ordered motion in opposition to two partymen and directed that the title board of the “government outlet” be restored. Following this, some DMK functionaries have been seen taking efforts to revive the damaged title board.
The Amma Unavagams, a flagship scheme of the erstwhile Jayalalithaa authorities, serves meals at reasonably priced prices in localities throughout the town. During the COVID-19 pandemic, meals right here was served freed from price.
The incident came about on the Amma Unavagam positioned at ward 92 in Mogappair. In the video, just a few men are seen getting into the outlet and popping out with an indication board of directions. Outgoing Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar and AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran condemned the incident.
