A metropolitan Justice of the Peace has ordered issuance of summons to actor-choreographer Gayatri Raghuram on a petition for legal defamation filed by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi advocates’ wing.
The social media spat started after the actor criticised VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan’s remarks associated to the Ayodhya verdict in 2019. While each of them later eliminated their controversial tweets, arguments continued between Ms. Gayatri and VCK loyalists.
Under such circumstances, VCK Advocates’ wing deputy secretary A. Kasi filed a petition within the Justice of the Peace courtroom in search of a route to register a legal defamation case in opposition to her. He alleged that she had expressed defamatory views in opposition to his chief Mr. Thirumavalan and broken his status.
The courtroom has ordered issuance of summons to her for look on July 12.
